Common Questions

FAQ

What is a PMHNP?

A Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) is an advanced-practice registered nurse with graduate-level training specifically in psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, psychopharmacology, and treatment. Lorrina is board-certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).

What's the difference between a psychiatrist and a psychiatric nurse practitioner?

A psychiatrist is a medical doctor (MD or DO) who completes medical school and a psychiatric residency. A Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner completes graduate-level nursing education with a specialization in psychiatric care and is board-certified by the ANCC. Both can evaluate, diagnose, and prescribe medication for psychiatric conditions. Lorrina is not a psychiatrist, but much of what she offers — psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and ongoing medication management — overlaps closely with what a psychiatrist provides, often with more immediate availability and more time per visit.

What conditions do you treat?

Lorrina treats depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, ADHD, PTSD and trauma, addiction, and insomnia in adults 18 and older. See the Services page for more detail.

Do you accept my insurance?

All insurance plans are welcome, and coverage is verified before your appointment is scheduled. See the insurance list above, or ask during your free consultation call.

Is this telehealth only? Where do I need to be located?

Yes, all appointments are conducted via secure telehealth. Lorrina is currently licensed and practicing for patients located in Florida.

How do I get started?

Contact Lorrina directly for a free consultation call. See the Getting Started page for the full process.

What happens during the free consultation call?

You'll talk with Lorrina directly about what's going on and what you're looking for in care. From there, she'll help match you with the right practice partner based on your insurance and scheduling needs — but she remains your provider throughout.

What if I'm having a mental health emergency?

This website and contact form are not monitored for emergencies. If you are in crisis, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or go to your nearest emergency room.
